Privacy Policy
AskAi — AI Buttons ("the App") is operated by Uhlenbusch.Agency (Inh. Jasper Uhlenbusch), Bosinks Kamp 8, 48531 Nordhorn, Germany. This policy explains what data the App processes, why, and for how long.
What the App stores
Shop data. On installation the App stores your shop domain, an API session token (required to operate) and your App configuration — selected AI assistants, prompt texts, design options and your current plan. The configuration is saved as an app-owned metafield inside your own shop.
Anonymous click counts. When a visitor clicks an AskAi button, the App records an anonymous event: the AI assistant's id, the page type, the page handle, the placement, the button variant and the storefront language, plus a timestamp and your shop domain. That is the complete record.
The App stores no cookies, no IP addresses, no user agents, no customer identifiers and no personal data of your visitors. The requested path is deliberately not stored, because account and password-reset URLs can contain tokens. Events cannot be linked to an individual person.
No customer data. The App does not request access to customer, order or checkout data (Protected Customer Data: not requested). GA4 events are pushed into your GA4 property under your configuration and consent setup; the App itself sets no cookies and loads no third-party trackers.
Where data is processed
The App backend and its database run in the European Union (Google Cloud, region europe-west3, Frankfurt). Storefront assets are served by Shopify's CDN.
Retention and deletion
- Click events are kept for 90 days and then deleted automatically by a scheduled job. Nothing older is retained.
- When you uninstall the App, all sessions and click events for your shop are deleted immediately (Shopify's app/uninstalled webhook).
- On a shop redaction request (shop/redact) all remaining data for the shop is hard-deleted.
- customers/data_request and customers/redact are acknowledged; the App holds no customer-level data, so there is nothing to export or erase.
Your visitors and the AI assistants
AskAi buttons open third-party AI services — for example ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity or Google — in a new tab, and only when a visitor clicks one. The prompt text and the page URL are part of the link the visitor opens. Use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Nothing is sent to them in the background.
